Only July 18th 2011, we were happy to have our first iPhone app launch for Creative House Publications, for their product Focus Magazine, centred on it’s dining section into an app called eat. Dining Guide.
After a few concepts, the ball was rolling to get this out ready for Q3 of 2011 and met the deadline for the beginning the school holidays.
It’s been a few weeks, and the app has had a positive response locally from restaurants & cafes who appear on the app and and the general public with on average 60+ downloads a week.

It’s was quite a new area for us and we hope to develop more applications soon and which we’re also adding more features for eat., including an iPad friendly version and a Google Android version to come later this year. Check out a few more screen below and a link to download the app from the iTunes App Store.

Below are the shots all shot in the studio of these delicious looking cakes. Enjoy!

Steve and Fran love birds — LOVE THEM! So much that in the following shot, I counted 47 birds in the artworks, sculpture and the 2 gorgeous native birds they were holding.

Fran and Steve converted half of their old garage into a workshop where Fran could paint her vividly coloured works, while Steve made his sculptures in the garden.

For the shoot I actually had to position myself outside, off the balcony and in their fantastic rain forest like backyard. The shoot was for an Artist Market profile in Focus Magazine’s February Issue.¬†I used a 580EX II at 1/16th power camera right as the main light shot into a silver reflective umbrella and a slaved flash to counteract the 580ex II’s shadows on the left.

Sylvie is a frequent visitor to vintage clothing stores finding outfits of yesteryear, reinventing them with her own flair which are then sold to a new generation at the local markets.

This shoot was great, I had the chance to use my new 64″ Parabolic Umbrella and a nice wide angle lens. The portrait was for an Artist Market profile in Focus Magazine’s December Issue.¬†I used a 580EX II at full power into the umbrella and a slaved flash to combat the shadows.

In Q2 of 2010, The Mil Studios banded together with Evolution Graphics to make an information system that would revolutionise how information about the local area could be delivered to users in a rich visual media format that would be so easy to use, the little old lady down the road could us it!

In Q3 of 2010 we launched to the public Explora Information Kiosks with a huge positive response.
Explora Information Kiosks present a brand new and exciting way for visitors to explore the local area. Simply touching the screen enables visitors to easily find more information on what the region has to offer. Each kiosk features 12 easily identifiable areas of interest including: Restaurants, Action and Adventure, Family Fun, Where to Stay, Tours and Attractions, Coming Events, Clubs and Bars, Wineries and Art Galleries, Takeaway and Fast Food, Specialty Shopping and Health and Beauty. Completely coded by The Mil Studios.

Visitors can explore each business via an impressive range of different multimedia options, including an interactive Image Gallery, Video or TV Commercial, Brochure, Menu or Price list, an interactive Google Map and a business description. The kiosks also have a printer allowing visitors to keep the business details handy.

We launched 20 kiosks to the Port Macquarie area and now has started to spread to Newcastle where the city council has purchased a further 20.

It’s was a great project to work on and look forward to developing more for Explora Information Kiosk’s.

We put together a great looking web site that let everyone see what great things Zebu has to offer that complimented their newly forged look.

A Content Management System (CMS) was used so us and the client could control the content of the site in just a few simple clicks, with a detailed statistic system so we can track whats more appealing to the visitors on the site. And because we chose to use a CMS, we implemented a blog style system for the Social section so the client could post on a regular basis, was is/has been going on at Zebu equipped with an easy-to-use photo gallery system too.

Everyone should check out Zebu and their fantastic setting, really cool!

I guess it is defiantly time for an update and a compiling of events into a post! Many photo shoots and a few web sites in development.

One thing I’m extremely happy about is the Fankie photo shoot.
The very morning it hit the shelves I received a txt that it was out, and within minutes I was there to pic up a copy. I didn’t think it was going to be a full page!!

I was an awesome shoot because it was my first shoot with my then brand new Canon 5D MarkII. I had also rented a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L and a Canon 580EX II to make sure that I got what I needed and the day after it arrived I went for it ‚Äî and I’m stoked with the results!

I’ve been still shooting like mad at Focus and with the 5D I’ve had even more fun.
One thing that I’ve been doing more of is food photography. I love it!¬†The smells, the colours, the textures and the ability too add as much¬†bokeh¬†as I want!

Though in most instances I only get about 20 minutes to get the meal, snap it, and be ready to head off to the next shoot. Head over to my flickr for some of the delicious shots! *nom nom*

Be in contact if you’re close and keen for and shots and can be willing to travel…
